Established in December 2016, Elder & Watkins began when David Watkins and Gary Elder decided (after several years of working together at a larger Southside Virginia firm) to form a partnership that could offer the type of personalized, efficient legal representation that their clients sought. Each attorney is able to rely upon accrued experience to offer sound advice and effective solutions to clients facing any number of issues. Together, the two attorneys have represented thousands of clients in a wide range of matters: from commercial and residential real estate closings, to the formation of estate plans and creation of businesses, to defense in criminal cases and beyond.
The Elder & Watkins philosophy is grounded in the small town ideals and values that have informed Gary Elder and David Watkins throughout their lives in Southside Virginia. They recognize the diversity of people, thoughts, and needs that are the fabric of our communities. Meeting those needs requires taking the time to listen and understand fully each client’s individual situation. Just as the client’s needs are one of a kind, the solutions are as well. It requires insight and creativity to match the solution to the situation, which is exactly the Elder & Watkins approach. Elder & Watkins believe that long-term relationships with their clients will aid in providing them with the best legal counsel over the years. The importance of longstanding connections not only applies to individual clients but to the community as well. The desire of the Elder & Watkins Law Practice is to make continued investments in the communities in which they serve.
