David C. Watkins,III, a native of Charlotte county, attended Hampden-Sydney College where he received a degree in History. Following his graduation in 2010, he pursued his Juris Doctorate at Appalachian Law School in Grundy, Virginia. During his time at law school, Watkins spent summers clerking for the Charlotte County Commonwealth’s Attorney office and for a private firm.
Upon graduating, Watkins practiced for several years with a Southside Virginia law firm prior to establishing Elder & Watkins in 2016.
Managing partner of the Elder & Watkins Charlotte Court House office, Watkins maintains strong ties to his community including being instrumental in establishing a local branch of Operation Blessing, an outreach that provides necessities such as clothing and furniture to Charlotte County’s neediest residents. He is also a member of the Keysville Ruritan Club, involved in the Charlotte County branch of Preservation Virginia, the Friends of the Library of Charlotte County and the Patrick Henry Memorial Foundation. Watkins also continues a strong relationship with his alma mater and is a regular attendant of any and all Hampden-Sydney sporting events.
