Matt Friedman grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in 2004 with a degree in Psychology, and he then graduated from the Charleston School of Law in Charleston, South Carolina in 2007.
Matt joined the firm in 2018, and he primarily practices in the areas of domestic relations, criminal and traffic defense, guardianship, and debt collection.
Matt began his career as an Assistant Attorney General in South Carolina, and prior to joining Elder, Watkins & Friedman, PC, he spent five years as an Assistant Attorney General at the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia in Richmond.
Matt’s background gives him a unique perspective in his representation of individuals and businesses. He has extensive trial experience, having tried jury trials in a multitude of jurisdictions in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Matt is an avid sports fan and enjoys attending Hampden-Sydney College and Longwood University athletic events. He lives in Farmville with his wife, Shannon, their son, Haynes, and their dog, Goose.
