Attorney at Law
Matt Friedman grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in 2004 with a degree in Psychology. Matt received his Juris Doctorate from the Charleston School of Law in Charleston, South Carolina in 2007.
Matt’s background involves having represented state governments in both criminal and civil cases. He began his practice of law as an Assistant Attorney General in South Carolina, and prior to joining Elder, Watkins, & Friedman, P.C., spent his previous five years as an Assistant Attorney General at the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia in Richmond.
Matt’s background allows him to utilize a unique perspective in his representation of individuals and businesses. He has extensive trial experience, having tried jury trials in a multitude of jurisdictions in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Matt has also practiced extensively before the Supreme Court of Virginia, the Supreme Court of South Carolina, and is licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Matt is an avid sports fan and enjoys attending Hampden-Sydney College athletic events.
